Medical Certificate

The physical exam must be conducted by an FAA-designated Airman Medical Examiner (AME). You can find your local AME in the US by searching FAA-AME site. If you are in good health, you should not have any problem getting your medical certificate. The cost of this exam is between $60 to $75 based on the location. The next step to get your Pilot License is to find a Flight School.

Knowledge and Practical test

There are two types of FAA required tests:

Knowledge Test
The airman knowledge test examines you on the concepts and information you learned in your flight school training. The exam is given at designated computer testing sites for a fee of $70, and you will be asked to present proof that your instructor has approved your ground school training. The test is two and half hour long with 60 mulitple-choice questions.

Practical Test
The final exam consists of a combined oral and flight test in which you will demonstrate your knowledge and proficiency as a pilot to an FAA examiner. In the "check ride," the practical exam, you will be tested according to the practical test standards (PTS) set by the FAA.
